PARSC ROCK AND SURF – ROUND 7 OF 2012 GM KENRICH ROUND ROBIN COMPETITION
The seventh round of the annual PARSC Rock and Surf GM Kenrich Round Robin Competition was held between RietRiverand the KleinemondWestRiveron Saturday 18th August . Weather conditions were warm with a light Northerly to Easterly breeze . The sea , however was very rough with a strong surge which resulted in difficult conditions especially while angling from the rocks . Ten teams of 4 fished the competition , together with a number of individual anglers . Overall 66.0 kg of edible fish consisting of 10 different species were caught of which 98% were successfully released .
The team with the winning IGFA points on the day was Team 4 consisting of Adrian Bezuidenhout , Leonard Bodill , Niall Borland and Jeremy Smith . Second place went to Team 3 consisting of Paul Knight,Terry Stewart , Don Murray and Iain Stewart with Team 1 consisting of Neil van der Linde ,Dave Kemp , Len Titmuss and Ryan Reeves coming 3rd . In the Round Robin League , Team 4 beat Team 1 , Team 6 beat Team 2 , Team 3 beat Team 5 and Team 10 beat Team 7 and Team 8 beat Team 9.
The Current Top Round Robin Teams are as follows :
1ST : Team 4 : 1158 pts ( Adrian Bezuidenhout , Leonard Bodhill , Jeremy Smith , Niall Borland )
2nd : Team 1 : 1105 pts (Neil van der Linde , Dave Kemp , Len Titmuss , Ryan Reeves )
3rd : Team 2 : 867 pts (Darian Keeton , Simon Du Plessis , Brian Wright , Roy Labuschagne )
The top individual Angler was Brendon Marais with a bag of 8.8 kg ,who also caught the heaviest cob 4.2 kg and the heaviest zebra 0.6 kg. He was followed by Jeremy Smith with a bag of 6.7 kg , catching the heaviest shad 0.7 kg and the heaviest blacktail 1.2kg . Brad Labuschagne came in third with 6.6 kg , catching the heaviest black musselcracker 2.4 kg . Jake Keeton caught the biggest bronze bream 3.7kg which also won the Sotheby’s catch of the day. Dave Kemp caught the heaviest blue eyed John Brown 0.6 kg , Neil van der Linde caught the heaviest white steenbras 2.2 kg . Iain Stewart caught the heaviestcapestumpnose0.5 kg and Don Fryer caught the heaviest yellow belly rockcod 1.7 kg .
Len Titmuss won the masters section (over 55’s) with 2.8 kg and Brendon Marais won the U21 section with 8.8 kg . There was no ladies section winner and Ben Keeton won the U16 section with 1.1 kg .
