PARSC ROCK AND SURF – ROUND 1 OF 2012 ROUND ROBIN COMPETITION – the fish are back in town !
The first round of the annual PARSC Rock and Surf Round Robin Competition was held at Kasouga on Saturday 21st January . Conditions were excellent with cooler water conditions a relatively calm sea and a south westerly breeze . Ten teams of 4 fished the competition , together with a number of individual anglers . Overall 123kg of edible fish consisting of 10 different species were caught of which 99% were successfully released , a great achievement !
The team with the winning IGFA points on the day was Team 4 , consisting of Adrian Bezuidenhout , Leonard Bodill , Niall Borland and Jeremy Smith . Second place went to Team 1 consisting of Niel van der Linde , Dave Kemp , Len Titmuss and Mike Williams , with Team 3 consisting of Paul Knight , Terry Stewart , Don Murray and Iain Stewart coming 3rd . In the Round Robin League , Team 1 beat Team 10 , Team 2 beat Team 9 , Team 3 beat Team 8 and Team 4 beat Team 7 and T6 beat team 5 .
The top individual Angler was Dave Kemp with 15.4 kg .Jeremy Smith came in second with 11.4kg and Brad Labuschagne in a close third with11.3 kg . Brad also caught the heaviest cob , a super fish of 8.7kg which was the heaviest fish of the day and Sotheby’s catch of the day in addition he caught the heaviest Baardman 2.6kg . Niel van der Linde caught the heaviest bronze bream 2.7 kg and the heaviest shad 1.0kg . Iain Stewart caught the heaviest white steenbrass 3.6kg , the heaviest poenskop 1.5kg and the heaviest cape stumpnose 0.9kg . Ryan Reeves caught the heaviest silver musselcracker 3.0kg and Adrian Bezuidenhout caught the heaviest Blacktail 1.0kg and the heaviest spotted grunter 1.1kg .
Mike Williams won the masters section (over 55’s) with 4.9kg , Karen Kemp was the top lady angler with 3.5kg , Brad Labuschagne was the top U21 Angler with 11.3 kg and Jessie van Rensburg won the U16 section with 0.9kg .
