PARSC ROCK AND SURF – Port Alfred vs Alexandria Angling Club

The annual PARSC vs Alexandria Rock and Surf Competition was held from Diaz Cross to the Point before Alexander Bay  on Saturday 12th October . Conditions were tough with an extremely strong westerly wind and rough sea . The sea was however clean and warm .

11 anglers from Port Alfred fished against 13 Anglers from Alex Club  which was an excellent turnout considering the conditions  . Overall 58.7 kg of edible fish consisting of 6 different species were caught of which most were successfully released .

The winning team with the heaviest bag was  Alexandria with 38.8 kg making it count in their home waters . PARSC caught a total of 19.9  kg . The top angler for Alex was Tommy Parkinson with 28.2 kg , which is an excellent catch in any conditions . His fish included a white musselcracker of 8.9kg and a white steenbras of 5.2 kg . Port Alfred’s top angler was Len Titmuss with a 7.9kg white musselcracker . Karen Kemp also made a big contribution , catching a white steenbras of 4.3 kg

All the anglers enjoyed the event and the braai afterwards . As usual a strong spirit of camaraderie was experienced between the two clubs as a number of the anglers are members of both Clubs with plenty of debates about who should be representing whom . .
