PARSC ROCK AND SURF – GBS MUTUAL BANK TEAMS OF 3 COMPETITION
The annual PARSC Rock and Surf Round GBS Teams of 3 Competition was held in Open Areas on Saturday 23rd June . Conditions were excellent with the sea being a good colour with a temperature of approximately 18 degrees and not too rough .The weather was good with a light to moderate westerly wind and relatively cold winter temperatures .
Nine teams fished the competition which was an excellent turnout . What was also pleasing was the number of juniors participating as well as a number of anglers who do not generally fish competitively at our club. Overall 102 kg of edible fish consisting of 9 different species were caught of which 97% were successfully released .
The winning team with the heaviest bag was Niall Borland and Leonard Bodill (no third angler) with 36.1 kg . Second place went to the team consisting of Gary Du Randt , Warren Bowdler and Riaan von der Marwitz with a bag of 12.1 kg with Douglas and Daryll Olivier (no third angler) coming a very close third with a weight of 12.0 kg .
Amongst the best fish caught were a 5.4kg cob caught by Riaan von der Marwitz , a 2.8 kg Bronze Bream caught by Paul Knight and a 3.2kg white steenbrass caught by Gary Du Randt . The top individual angler was Niall Borland with 26.1 kg followed by Mark Warren with 11.1kg and Leonard Bodill with 10 kg.

The next PARSC Rock and Surf Competition will be the 6th Round of the GM Kenrich Round Robin to be held on Saturday 21st July with the area to be fished being from the Boknes River to the Fish Kraals . Lines in at 07h00 , weigh in at the club at 17h00 .
