PARSC ROCK AND SURF ANGLERS REPRESENTING EP EXCEL AT VARIOUS RECENT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

All the various Shore Angling National Championships were held over the last month at various venues . Each Sub Province in RSA sends a team of their top anglers to represent them at these nationals .  Twelve anglers from the PARSC Rock and Surf section who had been selected to represent Eastern Province excelled at these championships which is a great achievement for a small club such as PARSC and augers well for the future of angling in Port Alfred .

Jake Keeton , Brad Labuschagne and Wade Labuschagne fished for the EP Development team at Struisbaai , where they came 5th overall . Andrew Du Toit fished in the Under 16 category in the Western Cape where they also came 5th . Brendon Marais fished in the Under 21 Category in the Western Cape where they won the Gold Medal , a great achievement in these difficult and unfamiliar angling waters .

Fishing for the EP Ladies Team in the Border waters Melissa Du Randt came 6th overall as an individual which is a fantastic achievement , with the team coming 5th overall . This is a great improvement for this relatively inexperienced team coached by Darian Keeton and I am sure they will be in the medals next year .

Darian Keeton fished for the EP Masters team(over 50’s ) in the Eastern Cape ,with the team winning the gold for the second year in a row , a great achievement .

Craig Eaton and Terry Stewart were members of the EP B Team who fished in home waters near Port Elizabeth . The team excelled winning gold in the end triumphing over the highly rated Natal Team that beat them the previous year . Craig Eaton came first overall individually also winning the medals for the heaviest non edible (duckbill ray 51.3 kg) the heaviest edible (cob 7.9kg) and the fish of the tournament (duckbill ray 51.3kg) . Craig was also selected for the President’s B Team .

Niel van der Linde (captain) , Dave Kemp and Greg Baxter represented the EP A Team , fishing in the extremely challenging Natal waters , produced a fantastic result by winning gold as well . The recent cyclone off Madagascar resulted in huge seas in Natal which made conditions more challenging than usual  . Dave Kemp excelled individually as well , coming 6th overall
